FOOD SAFETY

FOOD SAFETY

All of our products are produced according to the strict requirements of State and Federal standards. Our poultry processing plants are registered with Primesafe Victoria and are approved for export.

We operate all processing facilities according to a Hazard and Critical Control Points (HACCP) program. Our Quality Assurance department routinely monitors and validates all aspects of food safety to ensure the integrity of our products.

We are audited regularly by the appropriate government authority as well as our major customers.

ANIMAL WELFARE

ANIMAL WELFARE

We will strictly maintain a program of animal welfare that is designed to treat our chickens with respect and to eliminate unnecessary harm and suffering in the day to day operation of our production processes.

Chickens are cared for by our farmers, and transported, according to animal welfare codes.

The health and wellbeing of our flocks is of paramount importance. We insist on the maintenance of very high company standards when it comes to biosecurity. These standards are reflected in the Australian standards, which are among the most stringent in the world.

The aim of these measures is to prevent the spread of diseases on and between farms and include:

  • > On farm quarantine and visitor disinfectant precautions.
  • > An effective hygiene regime in order to maintain a healthy flock.
  • > Clean drinking water, no untreated dam or river water can be used.
  • > The use of antibiotics is strictly controlled. They are administered under vetinerary supervision only in the event of a threat to flock health.

One of the biggest challenges facing business today comes from the realization that we need to take responsibility for the protection of our most valuable asset – the environment.

One of the biggest challenges facing business today comes from the realization that we need to take responsibility for the protection of our most valuable asset – the environment.

We are inspired to take action and make a difference. Turosi is committed to doing its part toward leaving the environment as clean as possible for our children and their children.

We are committed to the environment and will constantly review and update our practices and procedures to ensure that the very best environmentally friendly alternatives are sought and implemented, continually improving production and business methods, wherever possible.

Turosi has recognised that by employing some basic key internal strategies we can work towards a sustainable future.

We will participate in education programs designed to show us ways to achieve our goals. We will continue to work with our major trading partners on projects involving sustainability.

These strategies include:

THE ROAD TO SUSTAINABILITY

This strategy identifies the areas we need to focus on in the short term and in the future. Our aim is to reduce waste and energy use as much as possible and send as little waste as possible to landfill.

A CHANGE OF ATTITUDE

Our employees will be guided and trained in ways to become more sustainable. They will be shown how a change in attitude towards sustainability and the choices they make in their work environment can make a difference.

COMMUNITY

We are inspired to do our part to help out within our communities, both locally and overseas. We understand that we are in a position of privilege and therefore have a responsibility to give back; it is a commitment we take very seriously.

As a company we lead by example, actively looking for ways we can make a difference to people in need, especially children. We empower our staff to take part in programs which not only provide assistance to the recipient but great reward to those taking part in the giving.
